Synchronicity and Connectivity
The best evidence I can find for synchronicity is in empirical case studies. Most people have experience of some kind of synchronicity. I think the various systems of astrology throughout the world reflect this synchronic pattern. Ancient people deeply understood the way that, the Moon, for example, affected sleep and the psyche. Furthermore, thousands of years of omenology point to humans' understanding of synchronicity.
Similarly, connectivity seems to point to the wide array of possibilities in the world based on how closely tied our atoms are to each other. Though it appears that each object is a separate entity from other objects, on a quantum level, we are much more mixed up than this. Synchronicity and connectivity seem to be related in pointing to the hidden story of time outside of our post-Cartesian model of cause and effect.
I like the link you draw between omenology, astrology, and quantum mechanics. The first two are arts of measuring synchronicity and connectivity on a large scale, the third measure them on a tiny scale. Same diff.
ReplyDeleteI'm also digging your connections between astrology and moon cycles and synchronicity. Reminds me of the Jungian collective unconscious idea - that there's some big cloud of memory, experience and knowledge we have floating above/around us and sometimes stuff gets accessed, intentionally or unintentionally. I didn't think of that as a synchronistic event before, thank you for the suggestion! That puts a different spin on things
